a fog city heat wave

from tumblr
It has been ridiculously hot here in San Francisco for the past few days.  And by ridiculously hot, I mean 75 degrees.  #onlyinsf  But seriously, without accessible air conditioning in most places and humid bus/train rides, I've been really limited in clothing choices.  Afterall, when you are down to one layer and just tees and skirts to choose from, it's difficult to be creative.  So what does this aspiring minimalist actually have to make summer work?

1 light jacket (for mornings)
8 tees
1 lightweight sweater
7 skirts
1 pair of shorts -- which is not work appropriate
4 dresses - only 1 of which is work appropriate
4 pairs of sandals

Tough life.  While I do have a versatile closet, very little of it is dedicated to the summer season.  Granted, the summer season in San Francisco is frequently sparse and short.  So what's a girl got to do with a limited wardrobe?  Mix and match as much as possible, but also invest in a few summer necessities.  Looking to get:

- A chambray shirt dress (J.Crew)
- A navy linen skirt (J.Crew)
- 2 sleeveless silk tops (Everlane)

What are your summer essentials?  And how do you be creative with the heat?
